The boys’ hosted Banbridge High School in the South Down Schools Cup on a wet Thursday afternoon.
Kilkeel created chances from the very start and went 1-0 up when Logan’s shot hit the crossbar and the ball fell to the feet of Sam who tapped it in. Sam got his second goal of the game by rebounding Aaron initial shot into the back of the net. Aaron crossed a perfect ball in from a corner for Arthur to head home to make it 3-0 in the first ten minutes of the match.
Banbridge made it 3-1 shortly after; but this encouraged our boys to get more goals before half time. Levi’s cross was headed in by Reed at the back post, then an Arthur free kick was saved with the rebound being scored by Levi, and Logan got on the score sheet with a great strike to make it 6-1 before half time.
Banbridge scored the next two goals to cut the Kilkeel lead to 6-3. Kilkeel increased their lead again when a ball from Logan found the feet of Scott who scored to make it 7-3 and game was wrapped up in the final minute when Sam played the ball across to Aaron who finished from close range to complete an 8-3 win!
Onto the semi finals we go!
