DRAMA

OVERVIEW

At KHS, all junior school pupils receive one period of drama every week. Drama plays a vital role in helping pupils develop confidence, cooperation and communication skills in a safe and fun environment. The combination of practical and theoretical work enriches and supports their learning in other subject areas across the school such as English, music and art.

Throughout the three years, pupils gain confidence in using voice, movement, gesture and facial expression by engaging with a range of texts and stimuli. Pupils use a variety of strategies including mime, tableau, freeze-frame, hot seating, thought tracking, and improvisation, plus many others, to develop creativity, empathy and expression. Pupils also gain an insight into the performing arts industry and the roles behind the scenes.
