The sporting success of this academic year has been kick-started by the U12 Boys football team who last Thursday won the South Down Schools 8-a-side Shield.
The boys started the group with a win over Dromore High, followed by two narrow defeats to Banbridge Academy and St Paul’s Bessbrook. These two defeats were a significant turning point knowing that a win against St Patrick’s Banbridge was essential to qualify in the top four and the boys won this game comfortably!
In the semi finals seen Kilkeel start the game brightly and defeated the group winners Banbridge Academy 2-0!
Onto the final and the boys were up against a strong St Paul’s Bessbrook. The boys defended extremely well at the very beginning, and just before halftime Levi scored to give us the lead. Two quick goals (from Aaron and Logan) wrapped the game up at the beginning of the second half and our defence stood firm to ensure Kilkeel took the win, 3-0
