On 26th April, our Senior Girls’ Football team travelled to Stangmore Park in Dungannon to face defending champions, Holy Cross College in the final of the Electric Ireland NI School’s cup. In the early stages of the game, the girls were caught out by a long ball, resulting in an early Holy Cross goal. This took the girls by surprise and two more goals followed in the first half. The girls reset for the second half and really stepped up to the game with fight and determination. They managed to keep the ball in the opponents’ half but just couldn’t manage to get the needed goals. The game ended 3-0 to Holy Cross with our girls being awarded silver medals. The result didn’t go our way but we are so proud of the squad who have represented our school so well and inspired many younger pupils for hopefully years to come. The team was led by captain, Grace who throughout the tournament was a great leader. They showcased the football talent coming out of Mourne and put Kilkeel High School right up there to compete with the best in the country!
