  1. Well done to Jude and Aaron playing for Lisburn Castlereagh Junior League 2011s RTC this weekend, who made the long journey to Limerick for their quarter final match. In terrible conditions Lisburn took an early lead to go into the break 1-0 up, scoring from a free kick. The second half started with Limerick increasingly gaining control and netting their equaliser. Lisburn then could have sealed the game but both chances were narrowly cleared off the line.
The game drifted into extra time where Lisburn showed their dominance and the team came out on top with two more goals before the final whistle. The win takes them into the semi final of Schoolboys/girls Football Association of Ireland.
Congratulations to both boys and we wish them all the best for the next round.
  2. Well done to the Under 15 Boys’ Football team who won their latest South Down league match against Banbridge HS 6-2 last Thursday.
Josh P (2), Joshua C put the boys 3-0 up in the first half with long range efforts outside the box. Kilkeel increased their with lead with a Charlie B effort from close range and Jack C made it  5-0 from the penalty spot.
Banbridge scored two penalties  in quick succession. But it was Kilkeel who sealed the win with a sixth goal coming from Dimitar V, cutting in from the left and curling a shot into the bottom of the net.
A well-deserved 6-2 victory for the boys in a physical encounter in difficult, windy weather conditions.
    Well done boys!
  3. The KHS 1st XI boys were facing a strong Cookstown side in the second round of the Burney Cup and only narrowly missed out after a tensely fought match.
The early chances fell to Cookstown, but Kilkeel played themselves into the game and could have taken the lead themselves hitting the post. Cookstown capitalised on a short corner and a swift attack to take a 2-0 into half time, but the KHS team never gave up, hit the post again and was finally rewarded with a goal at the beginning of the third quarter. Charlie’s carefully threaded pass found Matthew at the top of the circle who played into Jamie who finished with an emphatic strike. The final 10 minutes saw frenzied attacks from both sides, but with 45s on the clock, Kilkeel conceded a final short corner.
Cookstown probably were the favourites going into this game but Kilkeel‘s sheer determination and willingness to push themselves combined with skilful build-up play turned the game into an even contest defined by fine margins.
  4. Well done to our U13 Girls football team who beat  Banbridge Academy 4-2 in a tightly contested match in the N.I. plate at Bignian Park today. Kilkeel went ahead twice in the game (goals from Zara and Zoe) only for Banbridge to come back with an equaliser.
At 2-2, penalties loomed however Kilkeel were not settling for the draw. Layla got the all important third goal to go 3-2 up and then Zara finished the game off with the 4th goal to seal the victory! The girls impressed all over the pitch with an organised defence line, creative midfield and super finishing up front.
    Well done girls!
  5. Our U12s boys’ football team travelled to Cheney Park to play in the Year 8 Blitz qualifiers. The boys won against Newry High, but lost narrowly in the last 30 seconds of the game against St Paul’s Bessbrook. Conceding very late against St Mark’s Warrenpoint in the semi final meant a third place final against St Paul’s Bessbrook. The boys battled hard throughout taking every opportunity they could to net the ball but it was St Paul’s who came out on top.
The boys gave everything, with plenty of goals and good competitive football played in every match. They will return to Cheney Park next month to compete in the South Down plate competition.

  6. On Saturday, the U16 girls played their first round of the High Schools’ Cup in Belfast against Lagan College. The girls played some lovely hockey and performed superbly as a team. They came away with a 3-0 win, with goals from Megan, Rebecca P and Alexandra. A fantastic team performance with lots to take away to build upon as the competition progresses. They look forward to facing Markethill in the quarterfinals later this month. Well done girls!
