Kilkeel High School’s musical Matilda Junior finished on Friday 6th May after 3 sell out evening shows. It was great to put on our 45th Musical production after a longer than planned break due to COVID. The story of Matilda is well known and has been performed on the West End stage as a musical for many years now; this ‘Junior’ production is based on the same story and uses all the same songs. The cast for this show was taken solely from pupils in year 8 – 10 in school and they really showcased the young talent that exists within KHS. This was a new venture for us as a school as it didn’t involve any senior pupil at all on stage. We also introduced a supper at the end of the performance to make it a real night out for our audiences. The feedback from the community has been tremendous and it created a real buzz around school as a result. The pupils involved were a fabulous group to work with and will be our future stars. If you watched our production, we hope you enjoyed the show.
