Where are they now?

I have good memories of my time in the Learning Support Centre. I was in it for 5 years. The teachers and classroom assistants were really helpful and good fun. I wish I was back there!

I am currently working hard towards my National Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).

I was in the LSC from 2008 until I left in 2012. My memories of being there was that no matter what - I was never afraid to ask for help because everyone was so kind. Every day we had some good laughs. A highlight was going to the pantomime and whose car you would get to travel in!

I wanted to be a hairdresser and after lots of hard work I am close to finishing my level 3 which will mean I am a fully qualified hairdresser. No matter what - never give up, I’m happy with what I have achieved.

I was in the Learning Support Centre from 2009-2013. When I started high school my reading and writing was very poor but with lots of support it improved. I was really fond of the LSC class because all the staff were so nice and they helped me in lots of ways. Some of my highlights from school were going to the Pantomime each year in the Grand Opera House. I enjoyed it because we had time to socialise together and the pantomime was always brilliant. I also really enjoyed helping out with props in the school musical especially the year when the musical was performed in Belfast because the props team got to go as well!

I am currently in my 3rd year at the Southern Regional College (SRC) in Newry training to be a chef. I will soon be on the lookout for a job in a high end restaurant.

During my time in KHS I was in the LSC. I found the support fantastic and everyone was very approachable. If I had a problem I knew I could rely on the staff to help me. I also made great friends as we all worked closely together doing team building exercises. My favourite subject was Maths. I liked that we got to go on lots of educational visits. When I left school I went to the Southern Regional College (Greenbank) Newry for 4 years and I am now a fully qualified, self-employed joiner. The staff in the LSC made me believe I could achieve anything if I put my mind to it and I did.
