Key Skills is offered at Levels 1 - 3 in Kilkeel High school.
The three key skills qualifications are:
- Application of Number
- Information Technology
These three are assessed through a portfolio of your work (which is assessed internally by your school, college or trainer) and by an external test (which is marked by an awarding body CCEA).
There are three main reasons why you will find it helpful to study key skills.
The first reason is that they will help you develop the skills that you need to get good grades in the exams you will take, both in the next couple of years and in the longer term.
The second reason is the value they will have when you apply for a job, either when you leave school or college, or after leaving university.
The third reason is their value when you are applying for university, and while you are studying for your degree.
Key skills underpin everything you do, at school, at college, at work and at home.
- You are communicating all the time.
- You use IT more and more every day.
- Numbers are at the heart of much of what you do at school, college, home and work.
